Book Description: This debut novel follows the life of American painter, Agnes Pelton, from her childhood in a sheltered and scandal-tainted Brooklyn home to the end of her life in the California desert in 1961. Lacking confidence in her talent and uncertain how to handle her romantic attraction to other women, Pelton struggles to define herself as an artist and a person until she settles in Cathedral City, California. There, her connection to the land becomes reflected in her deeply spiritual paintings, and she fulfills a lifelong dream of creating powerful abstract art. The Pelton Papers is being released on April 7.
