Vote for a Book Cover, Win a Prize

covers of 2 versions of Bit Players books

I would love your input on a potential re-design of one of my book covers. Please help me decide if the new direction I’m considering is the right one! (And keep reading for a very fun way to decide if a book is something you want to read or not, in The Book Hook.)

Why A Re-Design?

When I wrote my Bit Players series of Young Adult novels some years ago, options were limited for creating eye-catching covers through Amazon’s publishing platform. Here’s what I came up with for the three books in the series, which is set in a high school drama program.

What is Bit Players?

I should pause here to give you some context on these books. The Bit Players books are classic teenage tales with a musical theatre twist. In each book, Sadie Perkins and her friends create their own original musical to famous stories — Twilight, Wuthering Heights and Seussical. For these plays, they write lyrics to go with existing popular songs — something my sister and I loved to do when we were kids! But it’s not all fun and games, or music and theatre….there are plenty of teen issues and intrigue/mystery to spice things up.

What’s the New Design?

I’ve long wanted to update the covers and so recently had this design done for the first one in the series, Bit Players, Has-Been Actors and Other Posers. The artist has a unique style you may even recognize from some major magazines.

There are things I like and don’t like about both styles, but I’ll keep those to myself so as not to “lead the witness.” I’d love to know what YOU think before I decide if I’m going ahead with the other two covers in the new style. So I need your votes.

My Thank-You Gift to You

To thank you for taking the time to do this, I will email you a free copy of the ebook for Bit Players, Has-Been Actors and Other Posers, just for entering.

Grand Prize: A Free Set of the 3-Book Series

In addition, one name will be drawn randomly from all entrants to win the Grand Prize: the entire 3-book Bit Players series. If you’re the winner, you’ll receive an email asking if you prefer paperback or ebook.

Bit Players Meets Wuthering Heights

While we’re talking Bit Players….The famous story adapted by the students into a musical in the second book of the series, Bit Players, Bullies and Righteous Rebels, is Wuthering Heights. Emily Brontรซ’s Gothic romance is all the rage, again, since a new movie version came out in February. In my book, the students in the drama club aren’t too excited about staging a period piece, so they contemporize the story of doomed lovers Heathcliff and Cathy for their script.

One Last Thing: The Book Hook

Are you the type of reader who dips into a book’s first pages using the Read Sample option on Amazon before deciding if you want to buy it? If so, you’ll like The Book Hook, in which authors read the first few paragraphs of their novels, letting readers decide if that makes them want to read the full book.

Both my Beautiful and Terrible Things and The Wallace House of Pain were featured recently. Listen to these snippets and see if either of these books should be your next read!
